Jim, the eternal Trekkie, living a fantasy in comics he'd never get to live in life. I loved creating this comic and love how it looks finished. It's fun to see characters you know well saying and doing things that they would normally never do.
Another example of the influence Calvin & Hobbes had on me. Some of my favorite strips were when it was drawn to look like a serious romantic comic while Calvin and little Suzie were really playing house and calling one another names like Booger Brain. The silliness of the dialog made the serious pictures absurd and that was hilarious. I hope I captured at least some of that here.
